So I have to do massive amounts of work this week, and prep for another test next week. The story of my life, but yea I’m not complaining. I just have to deal with it. I just became the technology director for colleges democrats on my campus. I plan to redesign their webpage so it looks as good as other universities. I guess I can’t wait until summer begins, I hope I get to do the traveling that I want to.
Obama is not doing too well in recent polling. A new CBS news poll shows John McCain beating Barack Obama among indepedent voters, and in a head to head match-up. I think these numbers are being overhyped considering the election is still months away. Barack still leads in elected delegates, and I think he will go on to win the nomination unless Hillary Clinton has a awfully good comeback, in the remaining races. I’m continuing to enjoy my break, although I need to do homework today!
I should be doing work in Miami, but I’ve been sitting around watching TV, and getting much needed sleep that I lose during the semester. I started to read Letters from Burma by Aung San Suu Kyi who is the Prime-Minister-Elect of Burma but is held from serving because of the Burmese junta putting her under house arrest. I think Barack Obama has a good deal of problems with his controversial pastor. I’m not sure what his pastor was thinking or maybe he wasn’t by make such atrocious comments. I guess its important to note that in head to head match-ups with John McCain, Hillary Clinton is fairing better in the key states for Democrats.
I have a backlog of magazines to read. I stopped getting the economist when I realized I have no time to read it. I chose to work for Motorola so I could stay in Miami near my family, and it looks like I’ll have the opportunity to volunteer with Luciana on a congressional campaign.
I was reading the NY Times last night and they had a good article on Barack Obama’s mother. I think she represents one of those people who live their life the way they want to, and not worry about social stereotypes. Barack’s mother was white, she was from Kansas she married someone black in the 1960s. Can you imagine what she must have been thinking then marrying someone of another race?Well obviously it didn’t bother her, and in the large realm of her life and Barack’s it really never made a difference. She took care of her son, and she got to do the things she wanted which was traveling and becoming an anthropologist. Although her place in history was not as large as Barack’s she greatly contributed to his success as a person because she did not place socially constructed restraints on her son. The rest of Barack’s life is history.
I find it very interesting how many people still spend so much effort to ensure they perfectly fit into social stereotypes. I meet people everyday and some are bent on satisfying their friends, their parents, and making sure they stay comfortably in their socio-economic status. One thing I have problems trying to understand why people can’t just accept you for the person you are, and how you treat them versus how society says you have to treat them. I think making assumptions based on someones economic standing, race, or gender is quite foolish, more likely bad assumptions will be made.
I think if people spent time trying to live their lives the way they want to, and follow their own individual ambitions, and avoid from being defined. They will probably contribute more to society.
I think this is one of the reasons I like to stay away from the notion of traditions. Many traditions have been bad, and if people blindly embrace them at face value they hinder the development of better ideas. I have hope that logic and reason will prevail.
I just finished my marathon sessions of exams. I took one Chemistry conflict exam at 3 pm, and another exam for my analog signal processing class at 7. I think both exams were pretty fair although the Chemistry exam was long. The next thing I have to work on is finishing my ECE 290 lab before I leave town tomorrow since it will be due when I’m not here. Then I have to pack, I look foward to going back home to Miami, and enjoy the good weather. The weather right now in Miami is about 69 degees with clear skies, the weather in Urbana is not too bad high 40s. The downside to going home is getting alot of work done that I haven’t finished such as working on my research presentation that I will be presenting, and a abstract, and a paper due on Saturday.
So I don’t want to study for my exams, but I have to.Insteading of studying I’m talking to Daria and Luke who have an equally horrendous exam AE 252 Aerospace dynamics I. I’m at Grainger right now, the engineering library.
The internet at my home in Miami has been out for the past few days at home in Miami, which my blog runs off from, so I haven’t been able to make any posts. Well now its back up and running. I look foward to getting my two test over with Chemistry and Analog Signal Processing, and flying back home to Miami.
Oh boy, I forgot that daylight savings time kicks in today, its really 5:37 and my computer clock did not change. I guess I forgot to download one of the service packs that update the time, I wonder how many software glitches are going to occur because of this. I better get to sleep, I’ve already lost an hour.
A totally new blog started by Luchy and I covering the daily political events from two different locations. From America’s heartland to our nations capitol. I think this is a good endeavor for both of us to undertake.
